Your Society.
Your Rules.

Most people assume the map is finished. It's not — 32 new countries formed in the last 50 years, and a growing movement of society founders is taking on the epic challenge of making more.

New technologies like AI, blockchain, micro-grids and software everywhere make the 21st century fundamentally different — yet we're still operating with 20th-century institutions that are visibly failing to cope with today's world.

COVID exposed this to tens of millions of people, especially around governance. We know there are better ways to live together — but someone has to actually build them. This class gives you a solid start along that path.

The Course

The Curriculum

Choose Your Path

We teach five routes to building a new society. Pick the one that best fits your vision.

Network School, Forest City, Malaysia
Network State

Build your community online first — values, economy, identity — using a blockchain, build an in-person footprint, and eventually crowdfund territory & seek diplomatic recognition.

Floating City Project render — The Seasteading Institute
Seasteading

Creating new societies on the oceans (as featured in BioShock & mocked by the Colbert Report).

Charter City

Create a zone in partnership with a host country, with formal legal status that allows the operator to raise serious cash and bring in serious partners who need the setup to be solid.

Aerial view of Principality of Sealand
Micronation

Declare it, build it, live it. Recognition from the world is optional. Commitment from your people — and a great flag — are not.

Sovereign State

Create a new, diplomatically recognized nation-state and take your seat at the UN. The hardest path — and our ultimate aim.

Choose Your Ministry

Every student steps into the role of Minister for one domain of their society. Your Ministry shapes your coursework, your peer group, and your founding plan.

🏛️
Commerce

As Commerce Minister, you'll build the economic engine to power your new society by identifying your value proposition, target industries, target customers (both citizens and businesses), and create an economic brief and short pitch.

⚖️
Justice

As Justice Minister, your mandate is the legal operating system for your society — the philosophy, legal codes (what will you copy? fork? write yourself?), dispute resolution, collab mechanisms (quadratic voting on budget line items?) etc. You'll create a governance brief & deep dive into one aspect of your legal system.

🎨
Culture

As Minister of Culture you're responsible for the soul of your society — the shared identity, symbols, and stories that unite a group of people into a society. You'll create some of the cultural artifacts like flags, anthems, rituals, holidays/festivals and shared values that make your country unmistakably itself.

📖
Story

The 20th century called this "Marketing" or "Public Affairs", but we dig deeper with a focus on crafting & sharing the stories of your new society. As Minister of Story, you'll create your founding mythos & use social media to grow your audience and learn what stories most resonate.

🤝
Community

Often the first focus of a new society, as Community Minister you'll identify "your people" and figure out how to find them, attract them, enroll them, and keep the belonging flowing. And then (because we're all about action), you'll form your first group of true believers.

💚
Wellbeing

As Wellbeing Minister, you're responsible for the physical & mental health of your citizens and will create the policies, customs, and institutions to make your new society conducive to human flourishing. Then you'll produce a pitch (whitepaper, presentation, video, etc) for why this is a healthier way to live.

🏗️
Urbanism

This Ministry turns your society from an idea into a place by designing the built environment: site selection, master plans, architecture, infrastructure. Your course project will be a visual guide to showcase your society's beauty and livability for a specific location you've identified.

What You'll Walk Away With

A complete Founding Brief for every Ministry of your society

A deep-dive founding plan for your chosen Ministry — the real deliverable

A peer network of founders working to upgrade humanity by creating new societies

A certificate that is, objectively, extremely funny to have on your wall

Learn from the Pioneers Who Have Built New Societies

Every module features a guest lecture from someone who has actually tried to do this. Some succeeded. Some failed. All have stories worth hearing.
